2023 Summer Season Hiring Information
The Wagon Wheel is still accepting applications for our 2023 Summer Season Costume Department. At this time, all other technical positions have been filled.
To produce another summer of Broadway-quality theatre, we are seeking to fill the following positions: Costume Shop Manager, 2 Stitchers, 1 Wardrobe/Stitcher (see job descriptions below). The season includes Disney’s The Little Mermaid, Escape to Margaritaville, Kiss Me, Kate, Jesus Christ Superstar, Wait Until Dark, and Always… Patsy Cline. The Wagon Wheel is an 830 + seat theatre-in-the-round which is supported by a live orchestra during musical productions. Each production runs for 10 days, with only 4 days between productions.

Summer contract details:
- May 12th – August 20th, approximately 13 weeks (willing to be flexible for students). Some contracts may be extended based on crew needs for the last show.

Summer Internships
The Summer Internship program provides high school students or undergraduate students with experience in several different technical theatre fields. The program is recommended to those actively pursuing potential careers or further education in the theatre arts but is not required. The Summer Internship program is an amazing opportunity for those serious about their professional theatre training as it is a chance to be completely immersed in musical theatre and explore future career possibilities. From the end of May through August, interns will have the opportunity to participate in various departments of all the professional productions in the Wagon Wheel Summer Season. The Wagon Wheel relies on the professionalism, dedication, and hard work of its company members to maintain its high artistic standards. It is imperative that those chosen to participate in the internship program also possess these attributes as well as an enthusiasm and passion for theatre.
Production Team
Work under the direction of the Technical Director to assist with all aspects of the rehearsal and tech process including, but not limited to: props, scenic elements, costumes, performance running crew duties, shop maintenance and organization. Potential performance opportunities are available upon auditioning at the Warsaw audition for local youth/teens.
The production team internships will begin mid-May and run through the end of August. Exact start and end dates of the internship are negotiable. Must be available to work long hours with only one day off, every other Monday. Housing is not included and must provide own transportation to and from the theatre daily. Full Summer Internship Stipend = $1,000
Assistant Stage Manager
Work under the direction of the Artistic Director and the Production Stage Manager to assist with all aspects of the rehearsal and tech process including, but not limited to: pre-planning for each production, tracking of props/costumes, taking line notes, assisting with daily paperwork, supporting actors with line memorization, and other stage management and/or run crew duties as assigned by the Production Stage Manager.
The ASM internship will begin mid-May and run through the end of August. Exact start and end dates of the internship are negotiable. Must be available to work long hours with only one day off, every other Monday. Housing is negotiable and must provide own transportation to and from the theatre daily. ASM internship is a paid position starting at $250/week depending on experience.
Wigs/Make-up
Work under the direction of the Wig/Make-up designer to assist with production demands including, but not limited to: basic wig styling, wig fittings and alterations, inventory and maintenance of storage and stock, other craft projects, nightly wig maintenance and clean-up, make-up/wig application and quick changes within a production.
The Wigs/Make-up internships will begin mid-May and run through the end of August. Exact start and end dates of the internship are negotiable. Must be available for every nightly performance (and Sunday Matinees), but daytime schedule is somewhat flexible. Housing is not included and must provide own transportation to and from the theatre daily. Full Summer Internship Stipend = $800
