On the Wagon Wheel Stage, February 24, 2024, at 7pm the Symphony of the Lakes Wind Quintet will perform as part of the Symphony of the Lakes season.  A wind quintet is a chamber music ensemble consisting of five wind instruments: flute, oboe, clarinet, bassoon, and horn. This instrumental combination creates a distinctive and versatile sound that allows for a wide range of musical expressions and textures.

Wind quintets have a rich history in classical music, and composers have written a significant amount of repertoire for this ensemble. The range of timbres within the ensemble allows for a diverse exploration of musical styles, from classical and Romantic compositions to contemporary and experimental works. Wind quintets are celebrated for their ability to create intricate dialogues between instruments and their capacity to evoke a wide range of emotions through their collective sound.
